As a sorority woman, you know firsthand the power of the experience. You’ve most likely grown and have been positively impacted by your sorority membership. This gives you great power to be an advocate and protect sorority so future generations of women may have similar experiences as you. That sounds like a very big task. Luckily, we have broken it down into simple things you can do to support and advocate for the sorority experience.

Support Legislation

Possibly one of the most important things you can do is support legislation that is meant to protect our rights as sorority women. The biggest way to show your support is to contact your senators and representatives encouraging them to support the same legislation you do. Contacting our elected officials informs them about the causes their constituents care about and, in turn, can shape what pieces of legislation they support. National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) and it’s 26 member organizations have been taking action and encouraging all members to be active citizens and use their most powerful tool, their voice.

Participate in NPC & Member Organization Campaigns

Throughout the year NPC and it’s 26 member organizations host campaigns on social media. These campaigns allow others to gain insight on the sorority experience and what we care about. For example, each year in March NPC hosts International Badge Day which allows sorority women and fraternity men to share what their badge means to them. This campaign allows others to learn about the fraternal experience, our values and what we hold dear. Participating in these campaigns’ spread awareness can further understanding and you can make a profound impact by participating. Follow NPC and other member organizations on social media to learn more about their advocacy campaigns.

Volunteer

Each member organization and NPC offer volunteer opportunities. The work done by volunteers is vital to our organization’s continued success. You can volunteer on different levels depending on your schedule. You can become an advisor for a collegiate chapter or for one event. Any volunteering helps further the mission of our organizations. This is a chance for you to have an impact on today’s collegians and shape them into women who will continue to advocate for the sorority experience.

Share Your Story

The most powerful tool we have is our stories. Each sorority woman has a unique story on how sorority has impacted them. By providing your story to others we can show the world what it means to be a sorority woman. TheSororityLife.com allows you a place to share your story with others!

This is just the start. There are a variety of other ways to support the sorority experience. Just being an active member of our community is a good place to start. Your support and advocacy will help preserve this experience for many other women. We owe it to them to do all we can to protect and preserve the sorority experience.
