Finding My Dream Sisterhood – Emma Grace’s Story

Growing up, my mom always shared her sorority (Alpha Delta Pi) experience. She made lifelong friendships, gained valuable leadership skills and fulfilled philanthropic goals.  Going into college, I wanted to experience a sisterhood like she had. I have an amazing little brother, but I knew nothing about what it meant to have a sister.

I wanted to find the sisterhood that made me feel at home, pushed me to be my best self and helped me when I was down. I also wanted to join a sorority that was very hands-on with its philanthropy. In high school, I did lots of volunteer work and value giving back to my community. I wanted to be able to see the impact I was making and feel connected to the cause.

I went into recruitment with an open mind and focused on trusting the process. As each round progressed, I found aspects of each chapter I loved. The way these women spoke so highly and constantly supported each other was something I had never experienced. Recruitment gave me a look into each chapter’s unique philanthropy and sisterhood.

The recruitment process ultimately led me to run home to Alpha Delta Pi on Bid Day. Bid Day felt like a dream! I can’t even begin to describe the happiness I felt running home. From my mom surprising me to meeting all the women in my member class, I was on cloud nine the entire night.

It was my first taste of sisterhood (I knew I would love it!). Little did I know that the girl who stood next to me during our member class picture would become my best friend, future roommate and a true sister.

Every day I fall in love with my chapter all over again.
