Megan received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Francisco State University in 2008. During her last semester she fell in love with a boy from Sweden and moved with him to Sweden in 2010. Her first priority after moving was learning the Swedish language. She completed her Master of Social Science in Psychology with an emphasis in cognitive behavioral therapy at Karlstad University in 2014. She worked at a residential treatment center and as a school counselor before beginning her PhD in palliative care in February 2016 which she just completed in February 2020. Her PhD project was titled “Development and Evaluation of the Grief and Communication Family Support Intervention for Parentally Bereaved Families in Sweden.”
Megan was a member of Phi Sigma Sigma at San Francisco State University and acted as risk management chair and member at large. Megan is still involved with her chapter at San Francisco State and attends as many alumni events as possible. She has always been passionate about improving health and mental health care, especially for children and adolescents.
