College Panhellenic Academy is an educational program from the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) designed to equip College Panhellenic officers and advisors with the most up-to-date Panhellenic knowledge, helping ensure the success of College Panhellenics throughout the U.S. and Canada. Academy provides the opportunity for hands-on training with NPC representatives, allowing attendees to refocus their commitment to NPC values and, in turn, shape their sorority communities.
To ensure all attendees have a beneficial experience, NPC hosts multiple educational tracks specific to an officer position. Fraternity/sorority advisors also have educational sessions so they are prepared to assist College Panhellenics. In additional to specialized learning tracks, there are multiple keynote-type speakers that focus on a variety of educational topics. Always a highlight of academy are “The Talks: Learning Through the Stories of Others” in which NPC invites guest speakers to share words of empowerment and inspiration in a similar style to a TED talk. The purpose of “The Talks” is to highlight experiences and stories that can teach lessons to future leaders.
Academy leaves a positive impact on attendees and allows them to focus on their larger purpose within the Panhellenic community. “My favorite part was that we started academy with a discussion of our values as a Panhellenic,” one participant said. “I loved the review of the creed and coat of arms, and I thought it was the perfect way to start academy with a purpose.”
College Panhellenic Academy is just one initiative of NPC that supports the leadership development of sorority women. NPC’s 26 member organizations also host a variety of leadership and educational conferences and many provide scholarships that send members to large-group training events that focus on learning and leadership development.
